Volunteering Opportunities in Communities Across Central Victoria

Volunteering Opportunities across Central Victoria

The Bushfire Foundation has a mission to prepare towns and rural properties for bushfires with the goal of reducing the impact of a bushfire. The programs include hazard reduction and home recovery. The Foundation needs you! Variable hours from Monday to Sunday. If you have experience in any of the following, you would be a great help:
– If you hold a Chainsaw ticket
– Are handy with a whipper snipper
– Love to garden, get outside, weeding and planting or even groundwork preparation
– Have a passion for regeneration of native flora
– General tasks including construction, handy work, demolition
– Have some general plumbing skills

While Bendigo is known as the City in the Forest, The Bushfire Foundation is keen to assist communities across Central Victoria. Please contact Nathan Rogers on 0424 970 190 or thebushfirefoundation@gmail.com

Volunteering Opportunities in Central Goldfields Shire

Are you based in or near Maryborough? They are looking for some volunteers to help with Meals on Wheels and Social Support Group services.

Meals on Wheels
Volunteering for Meals on Wheels enables you to give back to the community without taking up a huge chunk of your time. Meals are collected from Maryborough District Health Service at 11.15 am and the round is usually completed by 12.45pm. You can choose to get involved with a friend or take some time out by yourself.

Planned Activity Group/Social Support
Volunteers assist in the operation of the Planned Activity Group/Social Support program which includes assisting staff with activities, outings and similar assistance. Per week, five (50) outings are hosted, with 12-14 clients to support. One driver and two support volunteers are required per outing. Days and times vary each day of the week.

Interested in getting involved?
There is a casual interview process involved and a Police Check is required. A drivers licence is also needed and car registration for volunteers delivering the Meals on Wheels service. First Aid Courses are also offered free of charge to volunteers.

To find out more and to get involved contact Central Goldfields Shire Lifestyle Coordinator Michael Tucker on 5461 0675.
